Open cabins

There are many possibilities for overnight stays in and close to the protected areas in SVR. The local trekking association, Statskog and the mountain authorities have a total of 66 cabins in these areas.

The trekking association’s cabins

Stavanger Trekking Association’s chain of cabins stretches through Ryfylkeheiane from Sirdal valley and Frafjordheiane in the south to Haukeliseter in the north. The vast majority of the 24 cabins are left unlocked, but check Stavanger Trekking Association’s website for more detailed information about bookings and route descriptions.

The Norwegian Trekking Association-South has many cabins in Setesdalsheiane, from Åseral to Bykle. All 11 cabins are left unlocked, but check The Norwegian Trekking Association-South’s website for more detailed information about bookings and route descriptions.

Statskog

Statskog has 17 cabins in Sirdalsheiane and Setesdalsheiane. These cabins must be booked in advance. Visit iNatur for more information.

Mountain board cabins

Hjelmeland Mountain Board has four cabins at Blåsjø. Of these, Blåfjellhytta cabin is left unlocked, while the others must be booked in advance. Find information at Hjelmeland-fjellstyrene.no.

Bykle Mountain Board has seven cabins in the vicinity of Blåsjø. These cabins must be booked in advance. Find more information at Byklefjellstyre.no

Suldal Mountain Board has three cabins in Dyraheio north of Blåsjø. These cabins are left unlocked. Find more information at Fjellstyrene.no.
